| One of our most recent photovoltaic installations was a 2.4 kW system using the "Rolls Royce" of solar PV modules, the new Sanyo 240 HED hybrid. Our client chose these modules for their low profile aesthetic appearance and upon our recommendation, as they yield a high power output and are super efficient.
The end result was an attractive array of modules on our clients chosen location; a plain tiled, south facing garage roof at the rear of the property. The system install was completed in 2 days and entailed siting the inverter, an SMA 2500, in the roof space within the garage. To connect the system to the grid we had to run the AC armoured cable back to the main consumer unit within the property.
The system is currently generating on average 15 kWh per day, which is a very good start in order to repay our client's investment. The system will mean our client will save over 1.02t CO2 per annum. The system will generate just shy of £1050.00 per annum through the feed in tariff income and savings. At the moment the payback period is envisaged at being 10 years with a further income stream guaranteed for another 15 years after that! We are confident that with future energy increases, sure to be on the horizon at some point, the system will recoup initial investment far quicker than this.
