Renewable Heat Incentive

The renewable heat incentive is set to be introduced in April 2011. The new scheme will reward owners of renewable systems by way of an annual tariff system similar to the recently launched clean energy cashback scheme for photovoltaic's. Among the technologies being implemented on the new scheme is Solar Thermal or solar hot water systems the proposed tariff term for solar hot water systems is 20 years at a rate of 17p per Kwh of energy produced. This could mean the income generated from a standard domestic solar hot water system over the period could be as much as £10,000.

Important Qualification Criteria

Only systems fitted by an accredited MCS installation company will qualify for entry to the tariff. If your installer is not accredited you will NOT qualify for the scheme.

Systems fitted by an accredited MCS installer from July 2009 WILL qualify for the scheme. This was done to avoid unnecessary delays for people requiring  systems fitted before the launch of the RHI.

Upon completion of the installation customers will receive an MCS completion certificate from GEMSERV. This certificate is required to obtain the tariff.

For further information on the renewable heat incentive view the DECC Consultation on Renewable Heat Incentive PDF, or contact Salop Energy today, where one of the team will take you through the process required.
