| The old slate roof on this customer’s period cottage is up and down in places, so we knew this installation was going to be a challenging one. It was critical for us to set out the railing for the solar PV system as evenly as possible, but at the same time allow for the uneven ridge line, which you can see in the image below.
With brittle old slates and rafters underneath, which were not equal distances apart as they are in modern houses, it’s at times like these that we realise how lucky we are to have a professional roofing team within the company. After an hour of measuring and setting out the rail system was ready to be installed.
It soon became apparent that the old slate roof had a belly in the middle, so yet more adjustment was required. Despite the best efforts of the team, bracing the slates with a cat ladder, a couple of slates were damaged. However, thanks to our association with Sharps Roofing, a call was made to the office and within minutes matching reclaimed slates were delivered to site and swiftly replaced by the roofing team. Once the railing system had been set out, we were finally able to start installing the SANYO PV modules and the carefully wire the connections of the array.
The end result.
A stunning finish; the SANYO HIT 240 series are without doubt the most attractive modules out there. Whilst they may be pricey in comparison to others, they also perform the best, thanks to them being a hybrid module. This customer was extremely happy with their new solar power system and we are convinced it is one of the best looking systems of solar PV Shropshire. |
