Solar Thermal

Salop Energy has undertaken numerous Solar Thermal installations, both residential and commercial. With the forthcoming Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme set to begin on the 1st of April 2011, there has never been a better time to install a Solar Thermal system.

The proposed tariff will earn householders and businesses anything between £250-400 per annum; guaranteed for 20 years! As well as saving up to 65% of your hot water costs!

Any system fitted by Salop Energy between now and when the tariff begins in April 2011 will still qualify for the Renewable Heat Incentive. This is because, here at Salop Energy, we are a government accredited MCS Installer and all our installations are certificated and recorded by the Microgeneration scheme.

No MCS No Tariff

When we have completed your installation you will receive a handover pack and, most importantly of all, your MCS certificate. This certificate contains a serial number which will allow you onto the tariff scheme and begin generating the income through your system.

For more details about the scheme contact us. One of our trained advisors will be able to help with your enquiry and provide more information.

Solar thermal heating for domestic hot water is the fastest growing renewable technology across Europe. Using radiation from the sun, a sophisticated solar collector is used to transfer the maximum amount of energy possible in to a fluid, which runs through the collector and which is then used to indirectly heat water in a storage cylinder.

As solar thermal technology does not rely on sunlight but on solar radiation, it can work as efficiently in our climate to provide up to 65% of annual domestic hot water requirements.

Using the sun as a renewable energy source helps the environment, leads to reduced energy bills and means less reliance on gas and electricity for water heating.

How do solar heating systems work?

Solar heating systems use collectors, solar panels, that are fitted to your roof. These specially designed panels collect heat radiating from the sun, using it heat water stored in a hot water cylinder.

Two types of solar water heating panels are available:

  • Evacuated tubes

  • Flat plate collectors

Boilers or immersion heaters are used to back up the solar heating system to reach the temperature set by the thermostat if the solar water heating system does not reach that temperature.
